The final design auctions of 2011 are approaching, bringing with them some of the most important works of 20th Century Design to ever appear on the market.
First are a pair of sales December 13th and 14th at Phillips de Pury, New York. From Design Masters and Design, these are my favorite picks:
Monumental Bibliothèque murale by Charlotte Perriand.
Elegant Jean Royere Bouquet wall lamps.
Gio Ponti's monumental chandelier, for the Hotel Parco dei Principi.
A rare glass and brass Diablo table lamp by Max Ingrand.
A sculptural rocker and music stand, by Sam Maloof and Wendell Castle respectively.
Lidded boxes in shagreen and inlaid eggshell, by Jean Michel Frank and Jean Dunand respectively.
Rare Committee table and chairs by Pierre Jeanneret.
A classic Poul Kjaerholm PK80 leather daybed.
A Hans Wegner Ox lounge chair.
A beautifully minimalist Orrefors glass floor lamp.
Pendants and chandelier by Paavo Tynell.
A trio of Grosse Moule hanging lamps by Serge Mouille.
A Jean Prouve Compas desk.
A Diamond Mirror sculpture by Verner Panton.
Desk, stools, and wall sconces, all by Gio Ponti.
Three very distinct pendant lamp variations by Gino Sarfatti.
An etched glass and brass coffee table by Mario Terzaghi and Augusto Magnachi.
A mirrored glass and brass coffee table by Fontana Arte.
